How to Make Your Marketing Much Easier
February 17th, 2010

Ever find yourself sitting in front of your computer, unable to write that promo email? Or sorting through the paper clips instead of making those JV calls you intended? Or putting off drafting this week’s blog post?
Since it’s doubtful you went into business for yourself because you love the idea of marketing and selling, it makes sense you’d rather put your time and attention elsewhere – like working with clients.
Problem is, hit or miss marketing actions produce hit or miss results. So you’re impacting fewer lives than you could and bringing in less income than you’d like.
Creative coaches and healing professionals –people like you, with a deep desire for self-awareness- usually hold strong values about using their gifts and talents to make a difference in the world. This often shows up as a disconnect between delivering their services and marketing their services. So marketing feels both morally questionable and like a lot of hard work. (Makes sense you wouldn’t enjoy it!)
What you need to know, or perhaps remember again, is that you are a spark of the Divine. You’re meant to be sharing your greatness with the world, and your business is evidence of living your purpose.
When you come from that place, marketing becomes another way to create the connection you desire with your clients.
These three of my best tips will make it easy for you to boost your zest for marketing (aka, connecting):
Easy Marketing Tip #1 – Uncover Your “Big Mission”
Make sure your vision is big enough to pull you forward. When your focus is on the impact you intend to create for your clients, your community, and the planet instead of on the task in front of you, it acts like an energetic magnet pulling you out into the world and attracting the right kind of clients to you.
Easy Marketing Tip #2 – Identify the Appropriate Marketing Tools
There are virtually unlimited ways to reach out to your audience. There’s no need to become expert at, or even involved in, all of them. For example, you can grow a beautifully thriving business with just a website, free giveaway and regular ezine articles. The important thing is to pick the actions that are a fit for you so you can do them wholeheartedly and consistently. Even mediocre marketing, done consistently, gets better results than brilliant marketing done sporadically.
Easy Marketing Tip #3 – Invest in Support and Accountability
I’m going to be blunt and say that relying solely on free information or support for your business won’t get you where you want to go. There is a certain level of commitment to taking strong action and making big breakthroughs necessary for high-end business success – and that level isn’t reflected by “free.” Besides the truism of getting what you pay for, there’s also the energetic impact of your state of mind. Being reluctant to invest in support from a mentor who has been down the path you’re on is a form of hiding out and not taking your passionate purpose seriously.
It’s Possible to Love Your Marketing As Much As You Love Your Clients
Marketing is ultimately nothing more than the first step in creating connection and rapport with those people who can benefit from your special brand of transformation. When you use your vision as the driving force behind your marketing activities, focus your actions on a specific set of proven tools and give yourself permission to benefit from experienced support, you’ll discover that marketing is not only easy, it’s fun!
Easy is an important value for me. I’m curious - what are the most important values for YOU in your business? And how do they show up? Post a comment here…

You are so right - I am lucky I was a Salesperson before becoming a Coach so marketing for me is relativey easy. I see so many other good Coaches struggling with just the issues you highlighted however & will definitely pass your tips on to a few friends.

Oh Helen you are so wise! Yes, I see marketing as my connection with others. I know that what I share inspires others, so I continue to take the steps to encourage others to come along on the journey, and make big bold transformative changes in their lives too!

As always, Thanks for the great tips! Especially # 2. I try to do so many marketing tactics, when I should just be focusing in on one. So, I am going to choose one to work on today and then do it consistently

I love point number 1! Any thing done routinely can get boring, but with your big mission in mind there’s no room for that! Both for yourself and your clients! I’ll remember to incorporate this in my work helping women get clients.
Thanks Helen!
